Poem by Tristani Moreno

I AM A CHILD WITHOUT RIGHTS
Tristani Moreno, Std 6, Age 11

I am a child without rights
I sleep on a dirty corner at nights
All alone I am so full of fright
No longer do I see hope in sight
When will I be heard?

Everyday on the streets
I am constantly mistreated
Whilst at work my boss always has me beated
I am always exhausted and would like to have a bed
Although I would go to sleep without being fed
When will I be heard?

At every minute I’m praying to the Lord
Asking him to be my shield and sword
Protection and medication
Love and education
Is what I need but the people I know are full of hate and greed
When will I be heard?
